Sie gehört zum Archipel der <a href="Neusibirische_Inseln" title="Neusibirische Inseln">Neusibirischen Inseln</a>.

</p><p>Die flache Insel, deren höchste Erhebung 120 m aufweist, ist bekannt für ihre <a href="Walross" title="Walross">Walrosskolonien</a> und Vogelbrutstätten.

</p><p>Entdeckt wurde sie 1808 vom russischen Händler Belkow, dessen Namen sie heute trägt.
